MIMORAD 5G Antenna

Installation of the MIMORAD 5G Antenna is simple. It should be installed outdoors where you have a strong 5G network signal (or 4G network signal if connecting to a 4G router). The twin antenna cables should then be connected to the router. If your 5G router has 4 x antenna connection ports then you can use 2 x MIMORAD antennas and connect to the four SMA ports on the 5G Router. If your 5G router has TS9 connectors then you will need to purchase 2 x TS9 Antenna adapters.

The Fullband MIMORAD 5G Antenna covers all the 2G, 3G, 4G and the latest 5G cellular network frequencies so will work with all the current 4G and 5G routers in the market.

It is a Fullband Antenna which means that it works with all UK 2G, 3G and 4G mobile network frequencies so can be used with all of our 3G and 4G routers that have a MAIN and AUX antenna connection.

It is fully weatherproof so can be positioned outdoors in the optimum position to caputure the best 3G/4G/5G signal and deliver it to the connected device and its vertical beam width and back to front ratio ensure that it will deliver the best MIMO Plus performane at all times.

The Peak Gain of this MiMo antenna is 6dBi and the antenna can be wall or pole mounted.

The MIMORAD 5G Antenna is pre-terminated with 2 x 5m long antenna cables terminated with SMA Male connectors to fit directly to the antenna ports of your 3G or 4G Router. If you need to extend the cable length then remember you will need to purchase two antenna extension cables. Please also remember that if you are using antenna extension cables that your extended cable length will depend upon the signal strength of the mobile network at the antenna location. If your signal strength is excellent then you can extend up to 15m to 20m but if the signal strength at the antenna location is only good or medium then your maximum cable length should be shorted at perhaps just 10m.

Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Supported. In different deployment phases of the LTE and NR networks, LNR shared spectrum can be dynamically allocated to the two RATs (minute-level) based on their network load. Only one RAT can use the shared spectrum at a time.

5G Routers With SIM Slot

When searching for a 5G router you need to determine whether you mean a router with 5G WiFi or whether you mean a router with a 5G modem / 5G router with SIM slot. For 4G routers it was simple to search for a 4G router and you would get a list of correct results for 4G routers from manufacturers such as Huawei, Teltonika, Cradlepoint, D-Link, Billion, Proroute, Sierra Wireless, ADGT, Draytek, Perle, TP-Link, Microtik, Netgear or Technicolour. These all had embedded 4G modems and SIM slots so you could insert a 4G SIM card and get connected to the 4G network. Industrial grade 4G routers such as the Teltonika RUT950 were used for M2M applications such as remote monitoring and management, for example providing 4G CCTV Internet connectivity and some of these routers even has dual SIM slots, making them dual SIM 4G routers. This allowed the router to switch between the SIM cards, for example as a failover to the backup SIM in the event the primary network was unavailable.

Industrial 5G Router

Many M2M router manufacturers such as Teltonika, Sierra Wireless, Cradlepoint and Wlink manufacture a variety of Industrial grade, M2M 5G routers for remote access and monitoring. For example, the Wlink G930 5G router has an embedded 5G modem and delivers the high speed 5G Internet service to the LAN via Gigabit Ethernet ports and 802.11AC high speed WiFi. There is also a version of the G930 router that provides GPS location services so it can be installed as a vehicle 5G router.

When searching for 5G routers Google or other search engines will present lots of routers that do not even include a 5G mobile broadband connection because a standard ADSL router with dual band WiFi (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) is classed as a 5G router because the higher speed WiFi is called 5G wifi because of the frequency it uses. So it may be better to search for a 5G router using the search term “5G router with SIM Slot”. This way you can quickly limit your search to routers that use SIM cards rather than displaying routers that have 5G WiFi. You may find that the majority of 5G routers with SIM slot also have 5G WiFi becuase of the faster 5G mobile broadband speeds will need faster 802.11AC WiFi to deliver the faster 5G speeds over the WiFi hotspot for the devices to consume the data. Of course many industrial 5G routers with SIM slot will need a 5G Fixed IP SIM Card and ideally for applications such as 5G CCTV Internet connectivity it would be desirable to have an unlimited data fixed IP SIM card.

Teltonika 5G Router Configuration

If you are are curious about the Teltonika 5G Router then you should be aware that Teltonika have not yet announced whether they will just add a 5G modem into their existing RUT950 or RUT955 4G routers or whether they will use their RUTX range that already include faster CPU and Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11AC WiFi.

The 5G Router may initially be offered as a router to provide 5G Office Internet or 5G Homeworker Internet rather than providing a 5G M2M router for remote access and monitoring.

What is the price of the new 5G Router from Teltonika?

We expect that when the new router with embedded 5G is launched by Teltonika it will be at a competitive price point to compete with other low cost M2M routers such as the Robustel R5020 router. This will make the Teltonika router with 5G modem in the sub £200 price range and could mean that their 4G routers could reduce even further in price with the RUT950 router retailing for as low as £100 within the next 12 months.

5G Fixed IP SIM Cards

If you decide that you want to start using an industrial grade 5G router for your remote access and monitoring application then you should consider also investigating the price of 5G Fixed IP SIM Cards. If you use a normal 5G SIM card directly from EE, Vodafone, O2 or Three Mobile you will not get a fixed IP address and will not be able to access your router. This mans that port forwarding will not work so you will be unable to access your devices connected to the router.
